Kalamatianos كالاماتيانوس

A Greek folk-dance rhythm in 7/8, grouped 3 + 2 + 2. Its long–short–short movement supports the Kalamatianos circle dance. This study places Dum on counts 1 and 4, with Tek on 3 and 6. [1][2]

BASIC PATTERN

Count seven eighth notes as 3 + 2 + 2: Dum–rest–Tek, Dum–rest, Tek–rest. Feel one long group followed by two short groups. Classic adds light Ka strokes on counts 2, 5 and 7.
