Yuruk Samai يورك سماعي

A 6/8 rhythm of Turkish origin, widely used in Arab muwashshahat. Two groups of three eighth notes carry Dum–Tek–Tek, Dum–Tek–rest, with an open sixth count before the cycle returns. [1][2]

BASIC PATTERN

Count six eighth notes as 3 + 3: Dum–Tek–Tek, Dum–Tek–rest. Keep count 6 silent and return evenly to the first Dum. Classic adds light Ka strokes between the main hits.
