Samai Darij سماعي دارج

A three-beat rhythm in 3/4 used in Arab vocal and instrumental music, including the Darij instrumental form. Its basic Dum–Tek–Tek pattern keeps a clear, even 1–2–3 pulse. [1][2]

BASIC PATTERN

Count three even quarter-note beats: Dum on 1, Tek on 2 and 3. Basic follows the MaqamWorld outline; Classic adds a light Ka on the “and” of each beat. Keep the return to the opening Dum steady.
