Sudasi سُداسي

A 6/4 rhythm used in Lebanese and Palestinian dabke. Two opening phrases with Dum pickups lead into a spacious Dum–Tek ending. Count six quarter-note beats in three pairs. [1][2]

BASIC PATTERN

Count six quarter notes as 2 + 2 + 2. Play Dum on 1, the “and” of 2, 3, the “and” of 4 and 5, with Tek on 2, 4 and 6. Classic adds light Tek–Ka pairs in the second half of beats 1 and 3. Leave the “and” of 5 and 6 open.
